Our Journey

Altarize creates lime- and clay-based plasters, renders, and paints that bring beauty, breathability, and lower environmental impact to modern buildings.

Lime Plaster and Microcement are finishes designed for warm, humid climates. In Bali, surfaces must breathe, handle dampness, and still feel refined. For that reason, we work with mineral-based systems that look natural and perform consistently. As a result, you get comfort and durability—without sacrificing character.

In practice, lime plaster brings a soft matte texture and a calm, handmade feel. Because it is breathable, it suits living areas and feature walls in the tropics. In contrast, microcement delivers a seamless, modern surface that is often chosen for wet zones and floors. Therefore, the right choice depends on the space, the exposure to water, and the finish you want to live with every day.

Altarize Material

Altarize here!

Altarize is a Bali-based social enterprise founded to rethink finishing materials for a healthier built environment. We develop lime- and clay-based plasters, renders, and paints that reduce construction’s environmental impact while delivering breathable, durable, and timeless surfaces suited to tropical climates. Our work is rooted in material research and local craftsmanship, using natural and upcycled inputs wherever possible.

Our services

Structure

Altarize’s structural systems use breathable mineral base coats that stabilize surfaces, enhance insulation, and reduce environmental impact. These systems provide the essential foundation for all Altarize finishes, ensuring long-lasting performance in humid tropical conditions. By promoting breathability and energy efficiency, our systems support sustainable construction practices while enhancing the durability and comfort of your building.

Walls

Altarize’s wall systems, including Purecote, Finoplast, and Limewash, are designed for tropical climates where humidity is a major challenge. These breathable plaster systems allow moisture to pass through naturally, keeping surfaces dry and comfortable. They help reduce mold growth and dampness, ensuring long-term durability while maintaining aesthetic appeal in both interior and exterior applications.

Flooring

Altarize’s flooring systems, like Microcement and Purecote, are engineered for high-humidity areas. These breathable and durable finishes are formulated with low-carbon minerals, upcycled aggregates, and natural fibers to withstand moisture while maintaining comfort. Our flooring solutions enhance sustainability and durability, offering seamless, eco-friendly options for both residential and commercial spaces in tropical climates.

Material Development

At Altarize, we focus on creating lime- and clay-based exposed cement products that offer durable, breathable, and non-toxic solutions for tropical buildings. Our materials are designed to reduce environmental impact by using locally sourced and upcycled ingredients, helping to build healthier spaces. We’re committed to material innovation that aligns with sustainable construction practices, ensuring high-performance, eco-friendly finishes for modern architecture.

Our philosophy

Guided by nature.
Built for people.
Crafted with care.

Altarize is a Bali-based social enterprise rethinking finishing materials for a healthier built environment. In addition, we develop lime- and clay-based plasters, renders, and paints to reduce environmental impact. As a result, you get breathable, durable surfaces that are well suited to tropical climates.

Every project starts with clarity. First, we listen to your goals and check the substrate. Next, we prepare samples and mock-ups so you can see the finish in real light. Then, our team installs the system with clear steps and on-site guidance. Finally, we share simple care tips, so your surfaces stay beautiful for years.

We Rethink How Buildings Are Finished

Modern finishes often prioritize speed and scalability over climate adaptation, health, and durability. They trap moisture, age poorly in humid environments, and separate people from natural materials. At Altarize, we believe finishes should breathe, endure, and support healthier living environments.

We create advanced mineral finishes using lime, clay, silicates, and volcanic minerals. These materials are refined through modern science and tested for tropical conditions. Designed for heat, humidity, salt, and microbial pressure, our systems ensure long-lasting performance in harsh climates.

We use time-tested materials like lime for breathability and durability, clay for humidity control, silicates for mineral bonding, and volcanic pozzolans for strength. We avoid vinyls, epoxies, and toxins. Our finishes allow buildings to thrive by enabling airflow and natural processes.

Altarize finishes offer a unified system adaptable to walls, ceilings, floors, wet areas, facades, and custom furniture. Textures, colors, and performance are fully customizable while maintaining compatibility within a single mineral logic, ensuring a harmonious design throughout.

Sustainability is embedded in our materials, not an afterthought. We use locally sourced minerals, upcycled glass, and cement-free formulations. Our breathable systems extend building lifespans, and lime-based materials naturally reabsorb CO₂, reducing environmental impact.

Altarize works on diverse projects, from private homes to hotels and large developments. We collaborate with architects and builders to achieve precise outcomes, developing samples until the right solution is found, both visually and technically.

Inspired by Indonesia’s geology and craftsmanship, Altarize redefines natural finishes in tropical architecture, setting new standards for sustainable design globally.

Our Process

Clear steps.
Thoughtful rhythm.

From the first consultation, our team guides you through material selection, mock-ups, and on-site application. Then, we coordinate each step of the finishing process so the result stays aligned with your design intent. Along the way, we ensure the surfaces perform beautifully in tropical conditions, balancing craft, durability, and calm mineral character.

01 Site inspection

The process begins with a detailed site inspection. First, we assess surface conditions, humidity, sunlight exposure, and the functional needs of the space. This helps us determine the best system to use, whether it requires extra breathability, insulation, or water resistance. By understanding the environment, we ensure that the finish will support both the architecture and interior concept from the start.

Once the site inspection is complete, we provide material samples to allow you to evaluate the finish. This step ensures you can see and feel the texture, color, and overall aesthetic before any application begins. We work closely with you to make sure that the materials align with your vision and expectations.

After finalizing the samples, we create a full-scale mock-up on-site. This allows you to experience the finish in real lighting and environmental conditions. You can evaluate the depth of the color, texture, and overall look, ensuring it aligns with your design. If any adjustments are needed, they can be made before proceeding with the full installation.

Once the mock-up is approved, we move forward with the installation. Our skilled team applies the finish with precision, following all necessary guidelines to achieve the desired result. Throughout the installation, we ensure the materials perform at their best, providing a seamless and durable finish. Our team carefully monitors every step to guarantee consistency and quality.

Even after the installation is complete, our support continues. We offer clear maintenance and care instructions to ensure the finish remains beautiful and functional over time. If additional assistance is needed, we are available to help with future projects or touch-ups, ensuring that your space continues to thrive.
